In this economically difficult time, I would venture to say there is not one EWI member firm that has not felt repercussions. Perhaps falling sales number have resulted in employee benefits being cut or even layoffs within your company, or the companies where your family members and friends work. It is during times such as these that companies and people look to trim expenses and explore ways to initiate new revenue sources. It is during times such as these that we need the strength that we can draw from our EWI sisters. Think about it for a moment - the total of life experience and business experience that is held by the women in our Chapter is available to you to draw from. Just like the women in World War II who went to work in the factories and offices to ensure our Country kept going while the men were at war - we have the strength, intelligence and compassion to get ourselves, and our firms through this recession! The first step is to NETWORK...ask yourself if your company can do business with another member firm...ask yourself which member you can reach out to that might be able to offer you advice in an area where you are struggling...ask yourself which member you can reach out to that might themselves be struggling, that you could meet for lunch and offer a smile and a "shoulder to lean on". I truly believe there is nothing that we cannot overcome if we work together. Every day we continue to achieve the improbable. Despite this blasted recession we are still gaining additional member firms, still signing up golfers and getting donations to continue to fund scholarships for women in transition, and we are still managing to share a laugh when we get together. Reap the benefits of being an EWI member!

On Saturday, July 25th, the Phoenix Chapter of EWI will be hosting a seminar conducted by Lori Giovanoni. For those of you who are not familiar with Lori, she is a world-class motivational speaker and long time EWI member. Lori was instrumental in starting the EWI Academy of Leadership Modules. The seminar has two topics - "Success Redefined" and "The Law of Achievement". The fee for EWI members to attend is only $40 to cover the food expense. The Phoenix Chapter is paying Lori's expense. I will have specific information to send to you shortly, but this is an opportunity you cannot afford to miss!

Membership

If you've been a member for a while, it can be pretty easy to forget some of the steps your firm took to join.

Here's a quick review:

The first step is Chapter Board Approval. This process involes the Membership Director presenting detailed information including firm name, executive information, possible representative and major & minor classification, to the Board of Directors for approval to "POST".

Posting: Once a prospective firm has been approved by the Chapter Board, the firm must be: posted in writing either in the Chapter PULSE or by special mailing, with the name for the firm, the major category, minor classification and name and title of executive.

Contact can be made after ten (10) days of posting if no written objections are received from an executive of a Chapter member firm. If there is an objection, a reason must accompany the objection so the Chapter Board can investigate. The Chapter Board has the authority to rule on the validty of any objections and accept or reject them.

HELP GROW OUR CHAPTER BY SUBMITTING POTENTAL FIRMS FOR POSTING.

There are a lot of companies in Tucson, we just need your referral/posting.
