July President's Message
July celebrates the completion of our annual fundraiser, Independence Day and the official start to the monsoon season. Congratulations to all our members for another successful fundraiser! Our ASIST scholarship is an important part of our community involvement. And being able to fund $12,000 in scholarships to women in scholastic transition is something each of you should be extremely proud of. This year's recepients are amazing women who have persevered while facing tremendous challenges.
Vicki McNally and her committee are in the process of researching a variety of venues for this year's Reading Rally held in October. This is one of the funiest committees you can participate in. Our participation also gives us the ability to make a difference in a child's life which is tremendously rewarding. Contact Vicki McNally for further information.
The nominations committee has been working hard on the 2008-2009 slate which will be presented to the membership at the August Business meeting. Our thanks go out to all the new board members and committee chairs for your commitment. It will be an experience you'll never forget or regret.
Each of you has received a package and email regarding this year's Leadship Conference and Annual Meeting being held in Palm Springs in September. Take action and sign up. These events are wonderful and the speakers are always inspiring. It is also a venue to network and build relationships outside of the Tucson area. Leading up to the Leadership Conference is the Academy of Leadership. These are inspiring and give you hands on tools that can be used back at places of employment. Remember the Tucson Chapter will sponsor your attendance to the Academy of Leadership module one. If you are planning on attending the Conference and participating in module one, please let us know as soon as possible.
I look forward to seeing everyone at our monthly meeting July 21st, we have City Councilman Rodney Glassman as our guest speaker. We might also have a guest from Corporate - our Membership Advisor, Ramona Carey. It should be a fun and informative night.

The Basics of EWI Membership

If you've been a member for a while, it can be pretty easy to forget some of the steps your firm took to join.

Here's a quick review:

The first step is Chapter Board Approval. This process involes the Membership Director presenting detailed information including firm name, executive information, possible representative and major & minor classification, to the Board of Directors for approval to "POST".

Posting: Once a prospective firm has been approved by the Chapter Board, the firm must be: posted in writing either in the Chapter PULSE or by special mailing, with the name for the firm, the major category, minor classification and name and title of executive.

Contact can be made after ten (10) days of posting if no written objections are received from an executive of a Chapter member firm. If there is an objection, a reason must accompany the objection so the Chapter Board can investigate. The Chapter Board has the authority to rule on the validty of any objections and accept or reject them.

HELP GROW OUR CHAPTER BY SUBMITTING POTENTAL FIRMS FOR POSTING.

There are a lot of companies in Tucson, we just need your referral/posting.
