August President's Message
Summer is in full swing and my term as president is coming to an end. August Business Meeting will review the accomplishments of the 2007/2008 Board of Directors and we will honor our Scholarship receipients. Come and meet the ladies, who were awarded the Scholarships, they are truly some very dynamic women. I've also included a letter from the University of Arizona thanking us for our $12,000, scholarship awards in the Pulse for everyone to see that all of our hard work does make a difference. We are also inviting our non EWI judges to the meeting so each of you can meet them and thank them for the wonderful job they did in the selection process. They donated their time to assist us and also participated in the review of how we invest our funds so please take a moment and thank them. At the Business meeting we will also present the 2008/2009 slate. Congratulations to all the members who have accepted the positiions, you will provide direction for the chapter in the next year and the Tucson Chapter could not survive without you. Thank you for taking the initiative and time to lead and for the commitment to your person development. During the August Business meeting the Chapter will also vote on the Delegates to the annual meeting as well as the alternates. If you are planning to attend the Leadership Conference and Annual Meeting for the first time the Chapter wil award funds for the Leadership Academy module one and funds for registration to LCAM, transportation to and from, and the room cost of the hotel. It is a great opportunity and all you need to do is apply. Applications will be present at the August meeting. Finally, August is also a silent auction month. Not only are the members who volunteered for Copper Pot bringing some interesting an fun items, we also have some great items left over from the Golf Tournament available for bidding. Since we are combining Copper Pot with the items from the Golf Tournament the money is going to be split between the Operating fund and the B/C/DP fund. So bring your checkbooks and have some fun! Lastly, you will find a picture in the Pulse that was taken in 2001 of our Chapter, see how many members you can recognize while also noting how large the chapter was at that time. We can grow with you assistance. Post a potential firm by submitting their name, address, and phone number, potential Executive or Representative with a brief description of what they do. The Board will review the posting and once approved it will be placed in the Pulse for the membership to review. You don't have to be on the Membership Committee to post a firm even though every member in reality is part of the Membership Committee. So who do you know? Let's have a great fall and build our Chapter.

The Basics of EWI Membership

If you've been a member for a while, it can be pretty easy to forget some of the steps your firm took to join.

Here's a quick review:

The first step is Chapter Board Approval. This process involes the Membership Director presenting detailed information including firm name, executive information, possible representative and major & minor classification, to the Board of Directors for approval to "POST".

Posting: Once a prospective firm has been approved by the Chapter Board, the firm must be: posted in writing either in the Chapter PULSE or by special mailing, with the name for the firm, the major category, minor classification and name and title of executive.

Contact can be made after ten (10) days of posting if no written objections are received from an executive of a Chapter member firm. If there is an objection, a reason must accompany the objection so the Chapter Board can investigate. The Chapter Board has the authority to rule on the validty of any objections and accept or reject them.

HELP GROW OUR CHAPTER BY SUBMITTING POTENTAL FIRMS FOR POSTING.

There are a lot of companies in Tucson, we just need your referral/posting.
